Diehard Humanists and Outspoken Activists

Dr. Hari Sharma and Dr. Chin Banerjee were diehard humanists and outspoken activists who never held back. The stalwarts in the South Asian Canadian community were often the lead participants in progressive politics, democratic rights, and social justice.

They spoke fearlessly on human rights violence, state terrorism, or the treatment of minorities and Dalit communities by the state or the majority community.

I wish these scholarly and progressive Simon Fraser University professors were alive today to share their views about the present state of affairs, from Trump to Modi, the genocide in Gaza and the US-Israel war with Iran.

  1. Dear Promod Bhai: I fully agree with your sentiments that Dr. Hari Sharma and Dr. Chin Banerjee were outspoken activists who never held back. They indeed were leaders in our community who chose progressive politics and spoke about democratic rights and social justice.

Some of us learnt a great deal from them about speaking out about human rights,  state sponsored violence and the treatment of minorities by the state or the majority community.

I wish as well that they were alive today to share their views about the present state of affairs in our violent world.
