Israel has killed over 240 journalists in Gaza. Yet, in Western media, this brutal truth barely makes the headlines. The very people who risk their lives to be our eyes and ears in the carnage are themselves being silenced. Their cameras captured the misery, and their pens documented the atrocities; for that, they became the targets.
Just days ago, Israel deliberately struck a tent of journalists in Gaza, murdering five Al Jazeera reporters. This wasn’t crossfire. This was a message.
As a journalist myself, I bow my head to the martyred, salute the wounded, and honor those still standing, still reporting, still defying the darkness with words and images. They are telling the world the story of an open genocide, even as the world looks away.

Yes, I read your article, and agree it is targeted killing of non-western reporters who are the major source of the news coverage in Gaza.

Dear Promod Bhai: Thanks for your piece on Gaza journalists.
A genocide is taking place in Gaza and is live streamed into our living rooms. Yet we look away.
In a few years, books will be written, and movies will be made about the genocide in Gaza. Our future generations will ask us: where were you when this took place. We will not have an answer to their question.
The Guardian newspaper reported on August 15, 2025, that the Israeli army has created a unit with smearing Gaza journalists as Hamas fighters. The purpose of the unit is to blunt global outrage over killing of journalists.
When Israeli army killed Al Jazeera journalist Anas al-Sharif with three of his colleagues on August 11, Isreal claimed he was a Hamas commander.
Isreal has barred foreign journalists from entering Gaza apart from a few tightly controlled trips with Israeli military who impose restrictions including a ban on speaking with Palestinians.
Palestinian journalists are indeed brave. They are working under extremely difficult conditions. Many of them have been warned that no story is worth their lives. Still, they continue with their work because they want to report the truth. They are reporting with credibility, dignity, and talent. I salute then for reporting the truth about the genocide.

Thanks dear Harinder for your thoughtful comment. I particularly like your very true remark that “in few years, books will be written……” Yes over a period of two years an apathy has developed while the nonsense of Trump occupies most of the space in news coverage. In this apathy I also find most in the the so-called intellectual community, writers and poets, who seldom share a word about this genocide.
