When football reached America, I often wondered how it got twisted to look like a genetically inflated bitter melon, popularly called Kerela in India. This American football neither looks like a ball nor gets many kicks by foot. Instead, the throws are by hand, but they don’t name it handball. Americans called authentic football soccer. And like its democratic traditions, Uncle Sam wanted the rest of the world must follow the name change. The world refused, while many in Canada or the USA got confused. Why not the US ‘football’ use soccer as its name or select something else, maybe in honour of one of the ex-presidents, like Trump or Bush?

By the way, I never understood the American football game when the ball gets buried and lost under the heap of a human pyramid.
