WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE WORLD?

Today’s world is in turmoil, violent, disturbed, depressing, and daunting.

A never-ending scenario of combats and conflicts, a war, a battle here and there, dot all over the globe.

The latest tragic scene is the sudden, massive, brutal, and vicious attack on Israel by the world’s most known militant group, Hamas, fighting against the Jewish state’s illegal occupation of the Palestinian land and serious human rights violence.

The world is indeed passing through a critical period because of the acts of man and the failure of leaders under all kinds of political systems.

Meanwhile, the deadly and devastating fighting between Russia and Ukraine remains the hot spot in the agitated world of today.

The continents of Africa and Asia present several fiery points engaged in territorial disputes and civil struggles with violent clashes. Most of these combats are within the boundaries of each country for political reasons or for seeking regional freedoms based on ethnic disparities or discrimination.

From Afghanistan to Yemen, South Sudan, Somalia, Syria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Libya, Myanmar and Kashmir, occasional skirmishes between India and Pakistan, and the everlasting fights between Israel and Palestinians, the world today looks like a vicious battleground that seems eternal.

We see violent political instability in Iraq and Lebanon, Boko Haram in Nigeria, and Islamist militancy in Pakistan.

Politics of hate and the spread of majoritarian communalism take their toll on the lives of Muslims and Christians in India.

The American continent has its contribution, too, with the mad surge of far-Right extremism in the USA, the criminal violence in Mexico, and the political instability in Venezuela.

The political crisis in Pero touched Macho Picchu’s heights and Haiti’s gang-laced political turmoil. Cuba has never been peaceful under its authoritarian rule.

The global spread of civil battles, conflicts, and violence against ethnic minorities, with no end, results in misery and hardships for the people and escalating refugee crises worldwide.

The world is indeed passing through a critical period because of the acts of man and the failure of leaders under all kinds of political systems.

Anthropocene is the word meaning humanity appears poised to destroy itself.

Are we approaching that period of human history? Or can we still save ourselves from destruction?
