IMPORT OF KHALISTAN MOVEMENT HELPS MODI IN NEXT ELECTION

by Promod Puri

Desperately trying to rope Modi in its ring to contain growing Chinese influence and domination in Asia, the Western block, led by the USA, Britain, and France, seems quite naïve in their assessment and complexity of India’s prime minister.

His dominant focus is next year’s parliamentary and provincial elections.

For that, besides customary national and local issues, Modi wields the sword of national security to save the nation. He needs enemies, China and Pakistan, at its borders or Khalistan from the distant land of Canada.

There exists no Khalistan threat in Punjab or anywhere else in India. But it must be kept alive in the country through imports from Canada, the UK, the USA, or Australia.

The hype suits Modi domestically to bring security threats onto the election menu.

The Indian leader is not the only one among world politicians to deploy the tool of nations’ security and safety to secure and retain power. President Bush, despite his record-low rating, successfully used it after the 9-11 which re-elected him.

The Western Block must support Canada’s confrontation with India sparked by the alleged killing of a prominent and controversial citizen by Indian agents on its soil rather than seeking Modi’s government involvement to contain China.
